HP Print and Scan Doctor is a tool developed by HP team for its HP printer users. This free tool helps users to diagnose and resolve printing and scanning problems.
HP Print and Scan Doctor is available for all Windows Versions (Windows 10, 8.1, 8, 7 and older versions). Unfortunately it is not available for Mac OS X operating systems.
The HP Print and Scan Doctor is HP’s next generation diagnostic tool. It has completely replaced previous generation diagnostic utilities of HP:
- HP Print Diagnostic Utility
- HP Scan Diagnostic Utility
- HP Network Diagnostic Utility
As you know previously you have been using three utilities (HP Print, Scan and Network Diagnostic Utilities) to resolve your HP printer issues. Now HP has integrated all these utilities into one diagnostic tool popularly known as HP Print and Scan Doctor for Windows.
HP Print and Scan Doctor Download
Here are steps how to download and use latest HP Print and Scan Doctor for Windows.
- Download
Download HP Print and Scan Doctor on your machine using following download link.
Version: 5.1
File name: HPPSdr.exe
Size: 10 MB
Download: HP Print and Scan Doctor - Run .exe file
Click on HPPSdr.exe file from the download location on your computer.
- Choose Printer
Once HP Print and Scan Doctor is open, click start and then choose your HP printer.
- Fix the issue
Now you get two options Fix Printing and Fix Scanning. Depending on your problem selection click any one.
- Test Result
Test results are displayed with icon on your screen.
A checkmark means your printer passed.
A wrench means a problem was found and fixed.
An exclamation mark means a test failed and was skipped.
An X means the printer has a problem. Follow the instructions to fix it. - Desktop Shortcut
HP Print and Scan Doctor shortcut is installed on your desktop.
Note: The HP Print and Scan Doctor does not support Windows RT for ARM-processor based tablets or computers.

always keep your older printer hooked up with an Ethernet cable direct to your tower.
it is the only way that windows 10 and your printer will coincide.

I’m not able to get the correct port now.
And hp didn’t keep the drivers up to date or for Win10
have a Laser Jet 1012 HB, any ideas for a make the great printer work????????????

I had a wonderful Photo Wizard software on my old XP, it made printing so enjoyable because it asked which size you wanted on your prints. I have a Windows 10 computer and a comparable printer, but Windows
never asks for any size, just prints it on the 8X10 photo sheet. Very wasteful, especially if the print comes out in a small size. I asked for a new version, they said get Photo Print and Scan, but does that ask for a size on a print? IF that is the wrong one, what do I download that will give me that feature? Thanks for your help.

I am having the same issues as described. I have a DeskJet 3050 All-In-One J610 Series and after Windows 10 I am unable to scan anything. The printer I’m thrilled with…software and support…not so much. This has been a faithful product until this glitch.
My browser cannot find the link (5/2/16) and after installing Windows 10 I have no scan capability.
Since ‘upgrading’ to Windows 10 my Photosmart Essential 3.5 software cannot detect my HP C4180 All-in-one scanner. I have tried the HP print and scan doctor. The scanner works but not in photosmart essential. I have tried re-downloading the software but nothing helps.
HP ENVY 4500 will not print on windows 10. Only prints half pages. I know the printer is fine as it works when connected to a computer running windows 7.

hi my hp laserjet pro MFP 125a can be install in any laptop other than it was normally installed & worked before.
i tried manytimes to install the setup from original cd or download the install from hp website but each time the setup become 99% it says error fatal while on other laptop it works very fine.

Scan function on my Deskjet 3052A does not function since my upgrade to Windows 10. I received error trying to download the HP Scan and Print Doctor. WHY why why is this so difficult and time-consuming?

After numerous attempts at trying to fix my HP printer with scan doctor loading results for 24 hours and REinstalling 4 times…. I’m recommending a a new printer and it wont be an HP filled with numerous support programs that don’t work!!

Where/how can I access HP print and scan doctor for my HP office jet Pro 8710? When I scan from computer or printer controls in color, the entire page has aqua blue color background instead white and instead of just the pictures or colored ink print,….. if I scan in black and white, no color items are scanned. Very dis-hearting and I can’t find HELP anywhere…..

Since I installed W10, the printer CONTINUALLY drops out. I get a message saying its offline, but whilst I can print a test page, it resolutely refuses to scan. I have tried the usual remedies, nothing works. When I try to download Print and scan doctor it goes into a loop and continues to try to download.
Utterly fed up with this.
All my gear is HP so there should not be any compatibility issues and I am set to auto-download updates, so that should not be the issue either. In my experience as a not particularly expert Joe in the street, the help and support is not good and is often unintelligible. The system troubleshooters are poor, telling me the printer is working when it patently isn’t.
I echo John Horwood reply of Jan 28, 2017 at 12:04 pm. I can’t get any REAL help or good guidance from HP. I may need updated drivers, but how do I get them? Not even sure that’s the problem. 3 weeks ago, I got an HP to look at my printer/computer remotely. He tried to download new drivers, could not do it, and that was the end of that. Oh, he did try to sell me security support from a 3rd party.

There’s a glitch in the program for windows 7 ultimate users, it says that the app isn’t compatible with the current version of windows, and I must check if the app version I need is either x64 or x86 and call the software editor.
Beware if you install that, you’re going to waste your bandwidth to get nothing more but an error message because the HPPSdr isn’t supposed to work on Win7 ultimate.
My HP8720 quit scanning text files to my ASUS all-in-one running the latest version of Win 10 so on
your recommendation downloaded and ran Scan Doctor and guess what it told me?
“If you install HP genuine ink cartridges it will work”
I’m surprised HP has sunk so low so that it will not allow their printers to work even though
you authorize Costco to refill the small ones but not the large size.
I got wife an HP8710 and she just told me she wishes I had allowed to replace her Cannon
with another one.
